Downtown Ash Grove is on the road to realizing its vision for downtown as a
historic day trip destination, with one of the most intact turn-of-the-century Main Streets in southwest Missouri, just 20 minutes from Springfield. Ash Grove has six national registry, state, and/or county designated historic sites.Main Street, the hub of Ash Grove's history, has begun a transformation to a vibrant gathering place. Six historic buildings are outfitted with new facades, and five annual events are on the schedule. Downtown has four new businesses and a new Greene County Historic Site. All kinds of revitalization improvements are taking place: new signage, streetscape and sidewalk projects on Main Street, plus tourism brochures with maps of the historic sites. Visitors are now enjoying "Shadows of our Past", a set of unique silhouettes in the upper story windows on Main Street.

Fredericktown
FredericktownThe mission of the Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative (FRI) is the thoughtful preservation of the architectural and cultural heritage of the historic district, in balance with sustainable economic development to meet the needs of the community.
Fredericktown takes pride in the Madison County Courthouse – a landmark on the National Register of Historic Places - which occupies a significant role on the square, surrounded by many locally owned businesses. Many of the businesses are located in buildings constructed around 1900. Suffering damage from a severe storm in May, 2009, Fredericktown is recovering and taking steps to revitalize the downtown. FRI has offered façade grants for business owners that want to install awnings, and has worked with business and building owners to produce design renderings to help better visualize how storefronts might look with awnings and other facade improvements.

LamarThe mission of the Lamar Downtown Association is to preserve Lamar as a viable center of commerce with emphasis on the downtown area by way of securing funding to improve buildings and to attract new businesses to assure economic stability and growth.

Sedalia downtown is at the heart of a community bursting with fun and cultural events as well as historic landmarks. Sedalians are proud to host the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in downtown. Putting historic preservation at the top of the list in their revitalization efforts, the downtown revitalization program has also lead the way for the restoration of the Katy Depot, plus a historic theatre on the square, and the re-development of the former Commerce Building has created apartments for 26 families downtown and given this historic building a second life.

Sikeston
The mission of Historic Downtown Sikeston is to enhance the economic and cultural vibrancy of Downtown Sikeston, as well as its historic identity. Using consensus-based comprehensive planning and the Main Street Four-Point Approach of organization, economic development, promotion and design. Sikeston is located on El Camino Real (The King’s Highway) which was marked out by orders from the King of Spain in 1789. The road followed an Indian trail along the ridge from New Madrid to St. Louis. A depression in the earth from the wagon trail is still visible today in Sikeston. The city claims several other historic landmarks and unique events, such as the invention of the first coin-operated horse by J. Otto Hahs. Downtown Sikeston hosts a variety of special events that attract families looking for fun and education about local history and culture. Civil War Reenactors gather in the spring each year to play out the Battle of Sand Ridge, and the “Cowboy Up! Arts Festival and Pictures with the Rodeo Clowns” closes out Sikeston’s traditional Rodeo week in August. Sikeston is preparing to implement a new Strategic Plan for improvements in the historic downtown during the next couple of years, so visitors can expect even more adventures coming up.

Washington's location on the Missouri River and surrounded by some of the State's finest wineries make it an ideal place to live, work, and visit. The City of Washington has several "firsts" in the Missouri's preservation world, from being chosen as one the first five pilot communities for the Missouri Main Street program in 1989 to being chosen for Missouri's first class of DREAM communities in 2008.
