Our Partners in Revitalization
The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) provides guidance on preservation issues to the Main Street communities. The NTHP website and publications, plus the annual and regional preservation conferences, and a network of preservation specialists throughout the nation provide valuable knowledge assets for the Main Street® communities. Through a variety of resources, NTHP also offers assistance to revitalization efforts, including the services of the National Trust Loan Fund.

National Main Street Center (NMSC), a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, oversees the activities of Missouri Main Street Connection and provides technical services and training for staff and local Main Street boards upon request. NMSC also authorizes the Missouri Main Street Connection to conduct annual reviews (assessments) of the local Main Street Programs in Missouri to determine their eligibility for designation as Main Street® communities.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) initiated the Missouri Main Street Program in 1989 to implement legislation passed by the 84th Missouri General Assembly. It remains the state's first and only comprehensive downtown revitalization program. Missouri Main Street Connection, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, has assumed management of the Missouri Main Street program, and partners with DED to bring the Main Street Four-Point Approach® to communities in Missouri.
