Designated Missouri Main Street communities report economic impact in their districts each quarter. Cumulative totals for the program.
Communities that choose to participate in the Missouri Main Street Program and make use of its training services are encouraged to join the Tier System which recognizes various levels of achievement in revitalization.
Introduction to the Tier System
The highest level of the Tier System is Accreditation, an honor acknowledged during the National Main Street Annual Conference. Missouri Main Street Connection is authorized by contract with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to conduct annual evaluations of local Main Street programs in Missouri to determine their qualification for Accreditation.
At levels below Accredited, MMSC also conducts the annual determination of status for the participating communities and assigns them to the Associate, Affiliate, or Aspiring Tier. Each level indicates a level of achievement in downtown revitalization.
Regardless of their status in the Tier System, a healthy, thriving downtown or neighborhood commercial district is an asset to any community that is endeavoring to sustain and grow the local economy and create jobs. The Missouri Main Street Connection helps communities throughout the State to enhance the economic, social, cultural and environmental well being of historic downtown business districts, using a full range of services and assistance customized to meet the needs of each community interested in revitalization.
